Introduction

Technology providers are creating partnerships and alliances to tap the cloud market. Different providers are witnessing opportunities in extending their brand and offerings to the cloud.

There has been a significant increase in cloud  adoption among buyers in the public sector of North America and SMBs in the APAC region. Global technology service providers, such as Dell, Fujitsu, and IBM signed multiple cloud engagements in Q4 2012.

Competitive intensity from pure cloud players, such as Workday, Ultimate Software, and NetSuite, increased as they accounted for a significant portion of deal activity in this quarter. Fujitsu, T-Systems, and Cognizant announced significant investments in their datacenters, while providers such as EMC, Red Hat, SAP, and Oracle are investing in their marketing efforts.

Among MNCs, Dell, Fujitsu, and HP dominated new offerings. Amazon launched offerings for end-users across multiple geographies. Oracle and SAP dominated new cloud offerings by enterprise application providers. Telecom companies, such as AT&T, BT, Colt, and Telstra, continued to expand their portfolio of offerings.
