Introduction

The cloud market maintained momentum across offerings, deals, alliances, partnerships, and M&As. For a second consecutive quarter, the technology sector continued to lead adoption, while emerging sectors such as education, have witnessed a continuous uptick.

North America accounted for the adoption of slightly over half the deals, while Europe and APAC have witnessed similar levels of adoption and together accounted for more than 40% of the adoption.

NetSuite, IBM, and Oracle accounted for more than one-fourth of the deal activity this quarter. Cisco, Oracle, VMWare, Oracle, and Red Hat were key players in the cloud ecosystem, who were active in enhancing their portfolio of cloud / cloud enabling offerings.

Large MNCs, such as HP and IBM continue to leverage the inorganic route to strengthen their capabilities. Creation of new IP and access to IP continue to remain the most important levers that drive partnerships within the cloud service provider ecosystem.

Service providers continue to invest in enhancing the security of cloud offerings. Enabling BYOD and software-defined datacenters emerged as major themes for service providers as they invest in new offerings.
